True or False?

We all hear myths about anorexia and weight loss. But the real question is: Are they true? I'll answer a few of the most common ones.

#1. "Smoking cigarettes helps to lose weight."
False. The actual cigarette does not make you lose weight, but often what people who smoke will do is replace meals with several cigarettes, which decreases appetite. Although they do not "make you skinny", you can use them when you feel you want to eat to curb the craving.
#2. "Diet pills have negative effects."
True. Dietary supplements, especially newer ones, have negative side effects. If used very frequently, some of these side effects can cause you serious problems. Always use them as directed.
#3. "You can purge through diet pills."
True, but not directly after meals. You must wait until the food completely digests, then use diet pills afterwards, which boosts your metabolism and helps your body burn fat.
#4. "Anorexics don't eat."
False. Anorexics do eat. If we didn't, how do we stay alive for so long? We eat, just not enough. I eat around 500-700 calories a day. It all depends how long you've been in the game.
#5. "Bulimics are thin."
This one varies. Although some are, bulimics usually weigh more than someone with anorexia. This is because after purging, the body realizes the lack of food, making your body retain water and hold on to body fat.

I hoped this helped! xoxoxo
